"Another East Coast songbird with a holiday disc is Kim Stockwood, whose I Love Santa (turtlemusik) is the kind of upbeat and spunky disc you’d expect from the singer who first serenaded us with a song called Jerk. Freely admitting that she was inspired by the classic Christmas LPs by Dean Martin and Elvis Presley, Stockwood wraps up a swinging, jingley affair that includes the jazzy original title track and a warm remembrance of childhood St. John’s holidays on Home This Christmas (How Water Street Lit Up the Night). Stockwood gives Holly Jolly Christmas a welcome rocking upgrade, and she’s joined by Shaye-mates Damhnait Doyle and Tara MacLean on a glowing Silent Night. It’s a perfect soundtrack to eat Purity Jam Jams and eggnog by."

"For sheer Christmas spirit it would be difficult to surpass I Love Santa, Kim Stockwood’s first full-length offering. The Newfoundland singer-songwriter, best known of late for her work with Shaye, serves up delightful renditions of classic holiday fare like Holly Jolly Christmas, A Marshmallow World, Santa Bring My Baby Back To Me, Silver Bells and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. The material on I Love Santa is primarily upbeat, but for those who simply want to park their shopped-out bodies in front of the Christmas tree and bask in the glow of the lights, she offers I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm, a chestnut generally associated with Dean Martin, a cover of Elvis Presley’s If Everyday Was Like Christmas and the charming Home This Christmas, one of two Stockwood originals on the album. Stockwood’s bandmates Damhnait Doyle and Tara MacLean join her here on Silent Night. Stockwood is in excellent voice, and the arrangements are great. If any new CDs have a shot at becoming a Christmas classic this is it."
